What Is a Pronoun?

আমরা parts of speech শিখতে গিয়ে pronoun সম্পর্কে জেনেছি। এখানে আরেকটু আলোচনা করা হলো। Pronoun হলো noun এর পরিবর্তে ব্যবহৃত শব্দ, যেমন : Kamal eats rice. বাক্যে কামাল এর স্থলে He বসাতে পারতাম। এই He হলো pronoun. Pronoun সম্পর্কে আরো বিস্তারিত জানতে এখানে ক্লিক করুন।

Types of Pronoun :

Pronoun ৮ প্রকার। নিচে পেয়ে সেগুলোর নাম দেয়া হলো এবং বিস্তারিত আলোচনা করা হলো।

Personal Pronoun

কোন ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুর নামের পরিবর্তে যে pronoun ব্যবহৃত হয় তাকে personal problem বলে।
যেমন :
ব্যক্তির নামের পরিবর্তে : I did it. You can do everything. They are students.
বস্তুর নামের পরিবর্তে : He did it.

Personal Pronoun তিন প্রকার।

1) Personal pronoun of the first person
2) Personal pronoun of the second person
3) Personal pronoun of the third person
Personal pronoun of the first person :
First person বা উত্তম পুরুষের যেসব pronoun ব্যবহৃত হয় তাদেরকে এই প্রকারে গণ্য করা হয়।
যেমন : I, we ,my, me, our, us, ours, etc.
Personal pronoun of the second person
Second person বা মধ্যম পুরুষের যেসব pronoun ব্যবহৃত হয় তাদেরকে ওই প্রকারে গণ্য করা হয়।
যেমন you, your, yours, thou, thy, thee etc.
Persona pronoun of the third person
third person বা নাম পুরুষে যেসব pronoun ব্যবহৃত হয় তারা এই প্রকারের pronoun.
যেমন He, she, him, His, her, they, it, There.

Characteristics of Personal Pronouns

Number, Person ও Case এর পরিবর্তনের সাথে সাথে personal pronoun পরিবর্তিত হয়। যেমন singular number এর I পরিবর্তিত হয়ে plural number এ We রূপ ধারণ করে। আবার first person এ I, We ইত্যাদি ব্যবহৃত হলেও second person এ you, your ইত্যাদি এবং third person এ He, she, they ইত্যাদি ব্যবহৃত হয়। অধিকন্তু, Nominative case এর He objective case এ him এবং possessive case এ his রূপ ধারণ করে। সুতরাং number person ও case এর পরিবর্তনের সাথে সাথে personal pronoun এর রূপের পরিবর্তন হয়। নিচের Table এর মাধ্যমে বিষয়টি আরো চমৎকার ভাবে দেখানো হলো।

Word- notes: Thou = তুই, thee = তোকে Thine = তোর, Thy = তোর অথবা আপনার।

possessive pronoun এর দুটি রূপ আছে। একটির আওতায় পড়ে my, Thy, her, its, our, their এরা কোন Noun এর আগে বসে Adjective এর কাজ করে। যেমন

অন্য রূপটির আওতায় পড়ে mine, thine, hers, ours, yours, theirs. এরা ব্যবহৃত হয় pronoun রূপে (adjective রূপে নয়) এবং এদের পরে কোন Noun বসে না। এদের আগে of বসে। যেমন he is a friend of mine.
নিচের বাক্যটি পড়ো
His table is heavier than my table
বাক্যটিতে table শব্দটি দুইবার ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে। কিন্তু table শব্দটি দ্বিরক্তি এড়ানোর জন্য my table এর table তুলে দিয়ে my কে mine এ পরিণত করতে হবে।
his table is heavier than mine.
'Table’ noun টি একই sentence এ আগে একবার ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে বলেই এ কাজটি সম্ভব হয়েছে।
the gender of personal pronoun : Gender ভেদে first person ও second person এর personal pronoun এর কোন পরিবর্তন হয় না। যেমন

Famenine	I, we, us, our etc	you, your, yours

কিন্তু gender ভেদে third person এ personal pronoun এরর পরিবর্তিত হয়। যেমন
