Completing Sentence for SSC / HSC

ইংরেজি গ্রামারের একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ বিষয় হলো Completing Sentence. নিচে কয়েকটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ নিয়ম দেওয়া হলো । এই নিয়মগুলো পড়ে তোমরা অবশ্যই চর্চা / অনুশীলন করবে। নিচের নিয়মগুলো মনোযোগ দিয়ে পড়।
১। বাক্যে If+ Sub+ V1….থাকলে এরপর Sub+ can / will+ V1….
উদাঃ If you read more, you will learn more.
২। বাক্যে If+ Sub+ V2….থাকলে এরপর Sub+ could / would + V1….
উদাঃ If he came here, I would go there.
৩। বাক্যে If + Sub + had + V3….থাকলে এরপর Sub+ could have / would have + V3….
উদাঃIf I had done the work, I would have got some money.
৪। বাক্যে Had + Sub + V3 …… থাকলে এরপর Sub+ would have / could have + V3 …...
উদাঃ Had I been a doctor, I would have helped the poor.
৫। বাক্যে Wish / fancy / would that থাকলে এরপর Sub + were + Noun
/ Sub + could + V1 …..
উদাঃI wish,I were a bird.
Would that I could be a bird.
To download the hand sheet click the download in the below. Download ৬। বাক্যে As if / As though থাকলে এর আগে Present Indefinite Tense হলে পরে Past Indefinite Tense এবং As if / As though এর আগে Past Indefinite Tense হলে পরে Past Perfect Tense হয়।
উদাঃHe acts as if he knew everything.
৭। বাক্যে So that / in order that থাকলে এরপর Sub + can / could + V1 …. হয়।
উদাঃ He reads more so that he can get A+.
৮। বাক্যে So .. that থাকলে এরপর Sub + can’t / couldn’t + V1... হয়।
উদাঃ He was so abnormal that he couldn’t walk.
৯। বাক্যে lest থাকলে এরপর Sub+ should / might + V1…. হয়।
উদাঃRead attentively lest you should fail in the exam.
১০। বাক্যে It is time / It is long time / It is high time থাকলে এরপর to + V1 হয় কিন্তু It is time / It is long time / It is high time এর পর Sub থাকলে তার পর V2 …….. হয় ।
উদাঃ It is high time I made a train journey.
১১। বাক্যে Would you mind থাকলে এরপর V+ing ……. হয়।
উদাঃWould you mind taking a cup of coffee?
১২। বাক্যে too + Adj + To থাকলে এরপর V1…….. হয়।
উদাঃHe is too abnormal to do the work.
Download ১৩। বাক্যে As soon as + Sub+ V2….. থাকলে এরপর Sub+V2……. হয়।
উদাঃAs soon as he came here, I finished the work.
১৪। বাক্যে No sooner had + Sub+V3……. থাকলে এরপর than + Sub + V2….. হয়।
উদাঃNo sooner had I reached there than the rain started.
১৫। বাক্যে Hardly had +Sub + V3….. থাকলে এরপর when + Sub + V2….. হয়।
উদাঃ Hardly had we done the work when we got money.
১৬। বাক্যে Scarcely had +Sub + V3 ….. থাকলে এরপর when + Sub +V2…. হয়।
উদাঃ Scarcely had I reached there when the rain started.
১৭। বাক্যে Till / Until থাকলে এর আগে Present / Future Indefinite tense হলে পরে Present Indefinite tense হয়।
উদাঃ Just wait till he comes back.
I’ll wait until/till I hear from you.
১৮। বাক্যে Till / Until থাকলে এর আগে Past Indefinite tense হলে পরে Past Indefinite tense হয়।
উদাঃ We waited until the train came.
১৯। বাক্যে Since থাকলে এর আগে Present tense হলে পরে Past Indefinite tense হয়। আবার Since এর আগে Past tense হলে পরে Past Perfect tense হয়।
উদাঃ It is ten years since I met you last.
It was long since I had seen her last.
Download ২০। Not only এর পরে subject থাকলে but also এর পরেও subject বসে।
Not only এর পরে object থাকলে but also এর পরেও object বসে।
Not only এর পরে verb থাকলে but also এর পরেও verb বসে।
উদাঃ Not only Rita but also Ritu will call me.
২১। বাক্যে Relative pronoun থাকলে নিচের নিয়মটি অনুসরণ করা যায়
# Subject+ who/which/what/that etc. + verb + object→verb +object.
# Subject+ verb + object→that/who/which/what etc. →verb +object.
# That/Wh-word+ subject+ verb+ object→ verb Object.
উদাঃ Riva who is a little girl is my student.
I know a man who is a doctor.
That Rana lives in Dhaka is known to all.
London is the place where I was born.
২২। বাক্যে Provided/provided that/providing that/if/whether /in case (এর অর্থ যদি) থাকলে এটি ব্যবহার করে complex sentence গঠন করা হয়। মনে রাখতে হবে যে, এদের পরে একটি clause বসিয়ে sentence-টি complete করতে হবে।
এর structure ও উদাহরণ নিচে দেওয়া হলোঃ
### Sub1 + verb ——- + provided / provided that / providing that / if / whether / in case + sub2 + verb + অন্যান্য
উদাঃShe will shine in life provided that she works hard.
উদাঃThe plane will take off provided the weather is good.
২৩। বাক্যে As long as / so long as (এর অর্থ যতক্ষণ পর্যন্ত) থাকলে এ ধরনের sentence দ্বারা condition প্রকাশ করা যায়। মনে রাখতে হবে যে, as long as / so long as এর পরে সাধারনত affirmative clause ব্যবহৃত হয়।
As long as / so long as এর structure ও উদাহরণ নিচে দেওয়া হলো।
### Sub1 + verb ------- + as long as / so long as + sub2 + affirmative verb ------.
উদাঃ He’s welcome to stay as long as I can afford.
উদাঃ I’ll remember that day as long as I live.
২৪।বাক্যে Let alone (এর অর্থ হলো “ভাবা যায় না”, “তো দূরের কথা”) থাকলে Let alone দ্বারা সাধারনত negative অর্থ প্রকাশ করলেও ক্ষেত্রবিশেষে affirmative অর্থও প্রকাশ করতে পারে।
Let alone-এর structure ও উদাহরণ নিচে দেওয়া হলো।
### Sub + negative verb + তুলনামূলক ছোট বস্তু + কমা ( , ) + let alone + তুলনামূলক বড় বস্তু ।
### Sub + affirmative verb + তুলনামূলক বড় বস্তু + কমা ( , ) + let alone + তুলনামূলক ছোট বস্তু।
উদাঃ He can’t swim one kilometre, let alone ten kilometres.
উদাঃ I can purchase ten shirts, let alone one shirt.
২৫। বাক্যে neither এবং either দ্বারা একইভাবে কাজ করলেও neither বসে affirmative auxiliary verb-এর পূর্বে কিন্তু either বসে negative auxiliary verb-এর পরে। প্রথম clause-এ auxiliary verb-এর অন্তর্ভূক্ত কোন verb (যেমন- be verb, do verb, have verb, modal auxiliary verb ইত্যাদি ) থাকলে দ্বিতীয় clause-এ উক্ত auxiliary verb-টিকেই neither বা either-এর সাথে ব্যবহার করা হয়। কিন্তু প্রথম clause-এ auxiliary verb-এর অন্তর্ভূক্ত কোন verb না থাকলে দ্বিতীয় clause-এ person ও tense অনুযায়ী neither-এর সাথে do, does বা did এবং either-এর সাথে do not (=don’t), does not (=doesn’t) বা did not (=didn’t) ব্যবহার করা হয়। যেমন-
### Subject1 + negative verb + ---- + , + and + neither + affirmative auxiliary verb + subject2
### Subject1 + negative verb + ---- + , + and + subject2 + negative auxiliary verb + either
উদাঃ She did not attend the party, and neither did I.
উদাঃ The boy hasn’t done it, and his friend hasn’t either.
