Bangladeshi Music and Western Music (Paragraph for Class-9)
Bangladeshi Music and Western Music
Paragraph
Every country has its own culture and tradition. It cannot be replaced by the culture
of another country. So is the case in music.
Bangladeshi music has its own identity. There are some basic differences between
Bangladeshi music and Western. The differences are distinct.
First of all, Western music is instrument-oriented whereas ours music is
melody-oriented. Music instruments are used more in the western music. On the
other hand, musical instruments are used less in our music.
Secondly, they use an unpleasant metallic sound in their music but we use our local
instrument. Most importantly, the theme of Western music is love and that love is
very individual. On the other hand, the theme of our song is also love, but it's quite
different from the western music. Love as the theme of our music is for lovers,
sometimes for parents, sometimes for friends, for motherland and sometimes for the
Creator.
Next, Western music often follows vulgarism. People there love pop music, Opera,
etc. But our traditional songs such as Nazrul sangeet, Rabindra sangeet, Lalon Geeti,
folk music, religious song, etc. are very graceful and refined. Last of all, Western
music is often euphemistic but our songs are heart-touching.
Nowadays, like western countries, Band and pop music have become very popular in
our country. These music shows are performed mainly on stage.
So, in theme and melody, Bangladeshi music is distinctively different from Western
music.
